Oh God, my RP is shit. XD

Honestly, I'm sorry that you guys have to read through my crap. For some reason my brain isn't functioning well and the creative juices aren't flowing right today. It's just been a loooong time since I did forum RP.

Also, I'd like to apologize if I'm portraying Jill to be some shit-talking bitch. Not exactly what I was going with for the character. :/

Anyways, I've read most of your RPs and all I can say is WOW. Some.of you joined this website less than 3 months ago yet the quality of your matches and promos are just beautifully crafted and amazing.

I just want to ask for your advices. What are the things that I'm doing good with Jill so far? Anything that I need to work on and improve? How so?

Also, I'm curious about how things were for you guys when you first joined here. Were you already a vet in the RP world and felt right at home here? Or did it take some work to improve your skills? I'd really like to know!! Big Grin

The competition here is off the charts. It forces you to get better.

That said, there wasn't anything wrong with yours. And shit talking is fine.

I know how you feel, I haven't RP'd in years so it's like the ultimate writers block when you first start up and try and find your feet with your character.. just take a look at how average my debut RP was. I've actually changed my characters personality a bit from what I initially put on my application, I just ended up letting it flow a bit more and found that suits me better.

For what it's worth, I didn't think your first RP was bad at all.. there's nothing harder than when you first start somewhere, you don't have any rivalries or real knowledge of people - really limits your material. You'll find your feet quicker than you'd think though, it comes back pretty quick.. I can see you've got writing talent Smile

You're doing well! A lot better than I was when I debuted a couple of months ago. I'd actually never even heard of an E-Fed before that.

I think you're doing a good job from what I've seen today. Your debut post was very impressive and shows you are certainly very experienced. Some early advice I have is to be cautious of how much information is supplied about inner thoughts by the omnipotence of your narration. There are those who will target even that which is relayed through your narration as if it were your character saying it. Your best bet is to find that perfect formula for relaying what your character is going through without supplying too much info through voice-like narration. Relay the feelings and quirks through descriptions we can recognize and identify with rather than telling us what they are. If your character is in the rain, make us feel like we're getting rained on too. Describe the beads of water hitting flesh and the chill the coolness of the water brings as it runs down her face and lips and back of her neck. Don't tell us the rain is making her cold. If she's indifferent or even unsure of herself in a social situation, describe those physical tells more than having a narrative voice telling us she is confused or is making motions to distract from her inner feelings. Make us recognize her body language and make us speculate as to its deeper meaning. Make us wonder if they're signs of deceit or just her own uncertainty.

Another piece of advice is that when you reference competing with real life wrestlers or interacting with them, there are some here who will target you and call you a liar repeatedly for those claims. They'll ask for proof; footage if you will, and they may be very relentless on the issue. Just ask Maverick about that. lol I think he came in saying he was trained by a famous wrestler and got aggressively attacked about how it was a lie because he had no proof, and when it's a real life name no handler here "owns" the rights to, they also could write up a scene where they ask that real name about interacting with you and have them flat out call you a liar too, further damaging your own storyline and character. Some of the people here can be very brutal in how they'll attack you through targeting everything you supply them with.

As for me personally, when I was new here I was already very experienced with writing and roleplaying even beyond that of wrestling feds. At first I wasn't a big fan of how some of the people here will operate in the process of blurring OOC with IC lines but I got used to it over time and sometimes I'll even dabble in that area myself now. I've seen people target board signatures, user names and other aspects I would have assumed to be OOC but it seems as long as you paint it in an IC light, it's accepted. Once I got used to the idea of these boards literally existing in the IC world as the "XWF's official website," it made a little more sense to me.

What evertrust said about attacking real wrestler stuff is true. I'm even guilty of flat out calling people a liar for where they claim to be from. Going so far as to pull up weather forecasts in that area at a given time to debunk their RPs. It's all in fun, but it happens.

I found this site by accident, and I love it, and I'm never leaving. It did take a lot of getting use to when I joined earlier in the year. People like Frodo was like wow mind blowing the way he went about doing stuff, he's one of the best trash talkers out there. He'd turn your whole promo/roleplay around on you and make you look bad.

I've been in other feds before but this one takes the cake with swearing and what not.

I'm getting better as this place forces you to get better or fall behind.

But yea stay a while, people will hook you in, and if you crave wanting matches there's always two a week.

Take you're time I say, hook up with the right crowd, and you'll be sweet.

Don't get in over your head too soon otherwise you'll feel like your drowning, just enjoy it.

Having only been here for a week or two, I can already see that I'm going to have to up my game in order to compete. I've been doing this since 2007 with a lengthy break between 2012 and now so I'm still trying to knock off the rust and get back into writing. The competition here is going to do a great job of helping me out with that.

Again, what the guys above me said; This is my first fed too and when I started Gator was pretty different and my RPs really, really sucked. I got better just through progression and reading other peoples RPs and learning from them. Also, if you ever lose a match, don't take it too hard, it's a learning experience and you can become better from them.

I feel like this every single time I post a RP and read through it. I think it's just a natural thing, so don't worry about it. And welcome Smile

Howdy, your rp wasn't shit. It was a good start and you can only get better as time goes on.
I joined in August. This was the first fed I had been in for about 8 years. I even think I'm too old for it, I'm 28 next month. But then there are few guys here who are a similar age.
It was like starting all over again. When I was in a fed last, I had gotten very good and my character "Scully" became the TXW Heavyweight Champion, then the fed died.
So 8 years later after thinking about efeds now and again, I thought what the hell I'll do it again and found this bloody place. It's good really lol its like I've started all over again. Plus peeps here are really helpful.
And trash talking is fun, I think everyone hates "Scully" for being a dick

Welcome, my friend.

I enjoyed your RP. I'm like Gator and think the same thing when I post, but don't think too hard on it or you'll spend days writing something.... Trust me.
When I joined in August it was the first fed I've been in for over 15 years. I stumbled upon it and had to try it out again. Everyone is pretty cool and the competition is crazy. Use your imagination and have fun with it because this place is great.

Everyone gets to where they want to be eventually. So, keep that in mind when you work on things. When I started my role-plays were bad, short and...well, bad. That's the fun part of practice, you can't just walk up to a piano and expect to be able to play after one lesson. Takes some time but I have confidence in everyone here to get as good as they want to be. keep positive and keep your chin up….oh, and one more thing…Don’t quit…

This. Trust me, I was this young, brash rookie, coming into the XWF in the middle of September, my character all planned out, with not a care in the world. Some guy who named his character TJ Sky was issuing an open challenge, and I stepped up to the plate. I told him how I was trained by Storm, Regal, and Jericho for like, 6 years, and so I spent two more years from there in the indie scene. Then, there was another handler. This guy made X- Pac into a character. So, in what was his first post, he called me out as a liar. Then, this Kevin Nash guy- not Diesel- pretty much bandwagoned on X- Pac's claims. I think Kevin Nash was one of Paul Heyman's alternate characters, but I can't be certain. So anyway, I pretty much have my own group of stalkers who try to convince everyone that I'm a liar.

But yeah, I did like your RP. Considering others debut RPs I saw, yours is pretty sweet. Don't worry, your like a fine wine here- you get better with age and experience.
