Steve Saylors is sitting outside of a small gym in his rental car with the camera man sitting in the front passenger seat. He looks through the papers and shakes his head.
STEVE: Who the hell is this guy? Traveled to three different underdeveloped countries on year-long mission trips? He was the leader of his school's student council? Oh and he once helped a man out of a burning building? What the hell?
Steve runs his fingers through his hair. He cleans off his glasses.
STEVE: Alright let's get this interview with Mr. Perfection over with.
Steve walks up to the run-down gym and looks up and down at the rusted over roll-up garage door. Steve looks at it puzzled until he notices a woman walk around the far-side. He motions for the camera man to follow him. He walks around and notices a door which creaks when he opens it. They walk in and the room is pretty rusted over around the walls. However, in the center of the room, there is a wrestling ring with ten kids in it with two men. Around the ring is approximately thirty people watching and applauding.
One of the men has a cleanly kept beard and short hair and the other is the complete opposite. He has long wiry hair, lots of tattoos, and a long dirty beard. The cleaner of the two steps forward.
Hey Jimmy that was a great headlock just remember not to use these moves when not in the ring with me, alright?
He points and waves at a mother in the crowd who giggles. Suddenly the man notices Steve in the background. He pulls the group together.
Alright guys it looks like I'm going to have to end this fun right here guys.
Kids begin to complain.
Hey, hey it won't be the last time, but I need to speak with these gentlemen over here. They're from TV!
Kids start cheering and waving at the camera.
Alright now get out of here and you guys remember what to do?
KIDS: Eat healthy, pray hard, play fair, and always be an inspiration.
That's right kids, now get out of here!
The kids file out of the place and the man goes around giving hugs to nearly everyone in attendance. Lastly he hugs the other man in the ring for an almost uncomfortable amount of time. Finally they release and the wiry-haired man leaves with a snotty nose and almost tears in his eyes. The man walks over and escorts them to a couple of fold-up steel chairs in the corner of the room. They sit down across from each other.
Hey guys sorry all that took so long. I only get so much time a week to see these people and work with those kids. I'm LH Harrison.
It's quite alright Mr. Harrison, but these people seem to have quite the attraction to you. Do most parents stay around to watch you work with the kids like that?
LH: Usually we're turning away people at the door! (Laughs) But I thank you a ton for coming down to little ol' Hope, Arkansas just to get a few words with me.
It's not a problem at all; it's actually part of the job. Now, if you don't mind me asking, who was the gentleman I just saw leaving at the end of the practice?
That is actually my brother, Franky. Franky uh... (Clears his throat) recently went through rehabilitation and has been struggling to turn his life around. But now that he's back in Hope, he's actually made a complete turnaround after adopting my way of life so-to-speak.
And what 'way of life' would that be Mr. Harrison?
Well that's actually why I want to come to XWF, Mr. Sayors. I'm not coming to the XWF to be the most dominant wrestler. I'm not coming to XWF to compete in the most gruesome match on the card. I'm not even coming to the XWF for the notoriety. I'm coming to the XWF for one purpose Mr. Sayors: to inspire.
Wait, you do want to win the World Title, right?
Well, of course Mr. Sayors. However, my main purpose is to reach every single person on that roster and turn their life around. I want them to embrace the life of an Inspiration.
And how do they do that?
Well really it’s quite simple, but…
LH smiles to himself, takes a deep breath, looks into the camera.
It's time for the rehabilitation of the XWF. It's time to start loving our enemies and start forgiving them for their digressions. No one is perfect, but it's time for this organization to move on from this state of hatred. I tell the kids that I work with to remember a list of things to live their lives by. I tell them to eat healthy, pray hard, play fair, and always be an inspiration. It’s all I ask of this company is to take care of their bodies, embrace their religion, and play fair. Once you do that, the fourth step will just come natural. However, in order to be an inspiration, you have to play fair, and that seems like the most challenging aspect. That means you can’t take any short-cuts. No pulling the trunks, no using weapons. The only weapons Inspirations use are their God-given gifts.
LH raises his taped fists up.
Inspirations don’t take short-cuts. Inspirations work for everything they accomplish. My name is LH Harrison, and, XWF, I will lead you to a life of being Inspirational.
LH smiles at the camera, raises a fist, and the video fades to black. It then comes back to read…
‘The Inspiration’ LH Harrison
