History: Jason Rayne grew up watching and idolizing professional wrestlers like Steve Austin, Randy Orton, and Batista. His freshman year of high school, he joined his high school wrestling team. He was pretty average his freshman year, but eventually went on to win state championship in his junior and senior years. He then would receive an atheletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, where he would win multiple collegiate championships.

While he was in University, he took an introductory psychology course during his first semester, which at first didn’t much interest him. In an effort to reach Jason, the professor that taught the course would ask Jason to stop by his office one afternoon, where he would play several DVDs of Jake the Snake Roberts promos. The DVDs did the trick; Jason became fascinated with both Jake Roberts - and his mastery of giving dark, psychological promos - as well as psychology and how to successfully apply it to his own wrestling matches. Jason would go on to take every psychology course the university offered, passing them all with flying colors.
