Some advice - Dolly Waters - 10-16-2016

As many of you know I've used Paul Heyman as Dolly Waters' manager since her return, using him sometimes to cut full promos on Dolly's behalf in my RPS.

Now that the original Heyman handler has returned, I am thinking about moving away from doing this as often, even though he's given me green light to continue using him for my promos.

So let me give you all an example of an RP where I used Heyman for my promo:

And one where I used Dolly Waters only:

Please provide feedback on who you think is best moving forward. For storyline purposes, Heyman will remain Dolly's manager, appearing in RPs and at ringside during matches.

If the "real" Heyman gave you the green light...then you should fuck with him deeply!

BUT, I low key sense that Dolly can handle her own TTs...

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

*clears thorat*

DO BOTH...see where it will get you in this fed, ya know?

Honestly, since you asked I would say that you do yourself and the character a disservice by using Heyman for trash talk.

Paul Heyman has a pretty legendary cadence to him. One that is not easy to duplicate. The guy who handles the Heyman GM character does a pretty good job of it which I think does not do you any favors because then you have essentially two different types of Paul Heyman's running around here. One that sounds like Heyman and one that doesn't.

Since you posed the question I went back and read some of your work and one of the things I noticed is that outside of using some "Heymanisms" here and there, there wasn't a huge difference between the voice of Paul Heyman and the voice of Dolly Waters. I don't mean the actual sound but rather what and how they say what they do.

That is something I have struggled with in the past when I tried using a proxy to trash talk for a character. Trying to make sure that the proxy and the character don't sound too similar.

I also think that if you are going to go the route of using Heyman to trash talk then you need to go at it 100% and not have Dolly trash talk, ever. Otherwise it defeats the point. And since you've made it clear that you can, and will, and do a good job trash talking with Dolly, I think you would be better off just using her.

Plus, I think there is something comedic about watching/reading/listening to a young girl talking trash to grown ass men.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree a lot with what you're saying.

I've ntoiced though that two people have voted for me to use only Heyman. I'd like to hear their feedback, or their reasoning as to why.

I hit the wrong button. It wouldn't let me change my answer.

I'd say from my viewpoint that Watchman here is pretty spot on.

It wouldn't really matter much had Paulie not returned when he did (way to fuck up everything like usual, Paul) but with him as his own entity appearing so different from your version it could be confusing.

Also, although the trash you write with him is very good, it's just not HEYMAN. It's hard for me to picture it as him. I like the idea of having a mouthpiece, it just might be easier to be cohesive if it's someone totally fictional, like maybe even the Reverend or someone totally different.

As for Heyman managing Dolly though, I think that works perfectly fine. I've tried to leave little hints in the write ups that make it seem like Heyman is leeching off of her and taking advantage (like how he always has the belt, not her, etc.) because I always view Dolly as what I think of as an "accidental heel." She's just a naive little girl who would be a face except she's led around by assholes like Paul and her dad.

Any of that make sense?

Makes perfect sense, and I think it leads for fun character development for Dolly...

Maybe it's just me, but I've felt like my trash talk with dolly has been even more brutal and vicious than when I would use Heyman.

Just stay tuned I suppose... I think this story of Dolly Waters can become extremely interesting.
