I guess i "have" to say this i copied a story because it is pretty hard to think of RP's for alex shawn so i did copy paste so i guess if you think if i deserve a shot i suppose you can comment i know I'm going to get shit but whatever ya know people make mistakes and i know i did

no choice - Paul Heyman - 03-21-2013

Here is the story: I was reading through Madness RP's and came across the first part of Alex Shawns "Bedtime" RP. As I was reading, something just didn't feel quite right. I kept reading. It was a great story. About half way through, I selected a random line of text and googled it. Low and behold, someone else wrote it.

I commend you for coming clean. It can't be an easy thing to admit you cheated.

Whether or not you and your characters stay around, ultimately is not up to me. That said, if you end up getting a second chance, the only advice I can give you in order to create riveting stories about your characters, is read books. Lots of them. Watch movies, lots of them. You never know when something might transpire in a novel or a film that could inspire a great ORIGINAL story for your character(s).

If you are kept around, remember this: A lot of people put a lot of time and energy into writing their own work. Winning and losing by their own merits. Cheating, especially of this magnitude, takes a big massive shit on everything we do in this game. From the owner, the general managers, those that help the managers in numerous and thankless ways, to the veteran RPers to the rookie RPers. We ALL strive to be as original as we possibly can be. Cheaters are not hard to catch.

If you are kept on, don't ever fucking do it again.

I will neither vote to keep, nor get rid of you. I will leave that up to the rest of the XWF community. May God have mercy on your soul.

We don't have to give you a lecture because you already know cheating is wrong. Yet, you did it anyway and there is no excuse for that. I think that says enough about the situation. I just hope you don't let this type of behavior exist outside of this e-fed. Plagarism is a serious offense and could lead to some devastating consequences if you claim someone else work as your own.

I'm not going to comment on anything further or anything that has transpired, but all I have to say is this to you and everyone else.

Don't cheat in XWF

We will catch you.

Maybe not the first time, but we will eventually.

We always catch them.

"No choice?" Umm, I think you did have a choice and you made one that most of us will appreciate. Thanks for choosing to be open and honest with us.

It's nothing I'm going to flip my lid over. You aren't the first guy to try it, and you probably won't be the last. This type of behaviour seems to pop up at least every two months.

Believe it or not, we read your guys' writing every week. It's easier to catch something like this than you think.

Like others have said, if writing is an issue for you then get with other fed members either through Private Message or Feedback Forum. Chris MacBeth was messaging me after every RP that he did this week to get feedback on his stuff. I gave him my advice/suggestions, and his quality improved. Gilmour is another guy who's always on the feedback forum getting advice.

It was a shitty mistake that you made, but I have no issue with letting you stay. Ultimately, it's up to Shane though.

no choice - jpcorino - 03-21-2013

Nobody seems to give me feedback =( but bro let it slide off your back. Take that line that you copied and expand on it. Turn it into your own idea. I work in movies and that's what 90% of people do, They take something they like, even if done before, and they put their own spin on it. If it works for Hollywood it'll work for efedding.

I almost did the other night if that makes you feel any better. I got distracted with Warfare and Shove-It stuff though. It's so much easier for me to give feedback when you guys are RPing for my show.

Still, I'll try to visit your thread tonight.

no choice - jpcorino - 03-21-2013

It's ok! I think I am doing very well just need to branch out. I am the fucking worst at writing for me. I can write and write and write when I am at work but not when it comes to this stuff. I love it though. Although I work on a project for several weeks if not months before I finish so I have more time to polish it.

no choice - RonnieWilkins - 03-21-2013

So the same guy who was whining a few weeks back about decisions not going his way when it comes to RP'ing starts cheating?

In my opinion.

no choice - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 03-21-2013

The thing that makes this interesting is that you weren't even booked for a match and you decided to start dropping copied work as RPs during a week you weren't booked on Madness. Still though... even if it wasn't going to count for a match we don't allow copied work to be posted on the RP boards.

At least you had the decency to post this thread once I told you via PM to post it or we'd out you anyway. Believe it or not, in the past, we've had some real morons actually try and continue the lie EVEN WITH the other people who were helping with their cheating fully admitting it was happening... so at least you're handling it better than certain past offenders. That's why I'll leave it up to the general tone of this thread and that can be what decides your future here. If you're sure you want to stick around and understand why you can't do what you did, then we might be willing to look past it unless more people keep replying and saying no.

I'll leave it up to the general voice of the people.

PS: If you are allowed to stick around, I'd suggest sticking with just ONE character and trying to develop him thoroughly rather than having more than one. As others have said, there are a lot of ways to get ideas for RPs and make the idea your own.

no choice - Angelus - 03-21-2013

The following is only MY OPINION. That's it. It's nice that you posted a thread explaining what you did, however, after reading it and how you started off with "I guess I have to say this..." I interpret that as you're only sorry you got caught. Again, just MY opinion and mine alone. I don't really sense a lot of remorse here.

That being said, I'd hate to see someone have to leave over this. If the Alex Shawn character isn't working, scrap it, and start fresh with something new. There's a lot of talented writers in this fed AND working behind the scenes. We're all a resource. Use us. Bounce ideas off us. If you put a wall up or act like you're above needing help then you're never going to get better.

Best of luck to you either way. Let me know if I can help.

no choice - Sincere Lee Wild - 03-21-2013

Well even though I am no longer one hundred percent active in the XWF except for helping to write matches occasionally I felt I needed to comment on this. It's no secret that I have been through this same situation with my character Sincere Lee Wild last year. I recycled some of my old roleplays without thinking of the consequences it put on my opponents and the people who take their time to run this FED.

It's nothing you can not come back from and the XWF gave me a second chance and I'm sure they will do the same for you, they are like family here and understand that everyone goes through writers block. The advice I can give you is the same stated above, read, read read. If you need any help like I said I am not active in the FED anymore, but I love giving a helping hand. If you shoot me an email I could help you come up with fresh ideas, consider me the WCW Powerplant LOL. I have been told I'm a creative story writer and I have a ton of ideas I was going to go forward with my Character, but real life and work took presidence.

Good luck and I comend you on at least have intergrity.

Amber

This is my cardinal sin.

I might be the lone dissenting voice in this and I don't mind taking heat on this.

Toss 'em.

This is the ONE rule that I don't believe should EVER be flexible. To not use a 'stern hand' when it comes to situations like this, is to promote it as a 'not so bad thing to do.'

Ban of Death.

I get and appreciate that he came clean but I've seen too many people over the years that have done this exact same thing, 'come clean' and then continue to plagiarize work.

I've lost what... 13 of my last 15 matches? I get that you have no inspiration.

But I will either no-show or throw up half-assed work before I try to steal someone else's creativity and try to pawn it off as my own. I'd much rather have a well-deserved loss then a plastic win.

I so totally blew up Enforcer and Fred L in that RP.

RE: no choice - Peter Fn Gilmour - 03-21-2013

I think he should get a warning then get fed to me and mr mystery Wink

no choice - Ann Thraxx - 03-21-2013

Deal with it the way I deal with it. Sort of write a small show, 4000ish words a week, on a fed. If people do something wrong, I write them into a very embarrassing segment, and give them a warning via PM.

I was thinking, like Ronnie, that no mercy should be shown to those who cheat. But, we all make mistakes, I know I have.

no choice - Alex Shawn - 03-21-2013
